Iran has confirmed it will participate in the Syrian crisis talks slated for today in Vienna. It will join Russia, Turkey and long term adversaries the US and Saudi Arabia in the meeting aimed at finding a solution to the Syrian crisis. Some Syrian rebels have, however, said the presence of Iran would undermine the political process.

Apple will begin selling its Apple TV in retail stores from today. The new Apple TV became available for pre-order through Apple's online store earlier this week. The device comes with Siri, an App Store and an improved remote control.

The US Fed is to meet today to discuss a rule on the loss-absorbing capacity of big globally active banks, and a final rule on capital needs for uncleared swaps. The Fed said the rule would also cover long-term debt and clean holding firm requirements for both systemically important US banks and the US intermediate holding firms of big foreign banks.

Mumbai Police has issued an order prohibiting the assembly of five or more persons from today, in view of the ensuing festive season. Individuals are also restricted from taking out processions in the city for 14 days effective from today.

The 12th edition of the Jeevika Livelihood Documentary Festival, being organised by the Delhi-based Centre for Civil Society, will open today. The annual Asia level documentary festival will close on November 1. It will feature documentaries on marginalised people, issues of entrepreneurship, livelihood, education and gender.
