The Delhi High Court will on Wednesday hear a plea seeking a stay on the Delhi government’s recent decision to restrict the number of private vehicles on the road based on the odd-even number of their licence plates.

The BJP will gherao the Assam Assembly on Wednesday demanding the removal of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for his alleged comment about “a party of Hindi-speaking national leaders trying to invade Assam”.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sunil Arora will meet students of the Film and Television Institute of India and professionals from the film and television industry in Mumbai today to discuss issues related to the institute. Students of FTII have been protesting that the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as head of the institute is inappropriate.

The UP Congress is to hold a series of padayatras in 12 major cities of Uttar Pradesh. The programme will kick off from Meerut today, which is the birthday of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and will culminate in Lucknow on December 31.

A special court will hear final arguments in a case arising out of the 2G scam probe in which promoters of the Essar Group and Loop Telecom Ltd are facing trial. Special CBI judge OP Saini earlier deferred the hearing as the court was hearing final arguments in a separate 2G spectrum allocation case in which former telecom minister A Raja and 16 others are facing trial.
