Russia, the US, and the United Nations will hold talks on the Syrian crisis in Geneva today. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said Russia will present its “vision” for intensifying joint efforts to fight terrorism in Syria. Neither US Secretary of State John Kerry nor Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will attend the meeting.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrives in India today. During his three-day visit he will hold summit talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a focus on forging greater synergies between the two leading Asian economies and take forward the special strategic ties.

IIM-Bangalore’s first Global Alumni Conclave and Leadership Summit (IIMBUE) will begin today. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairman, IIMB Board of Governors and Chief Patron of the Leadership Summit, said the objective of the three-day event was to foster deeper ties between the alumni and the institute.

The groups and fixtures for the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 tournament will be announced on Friday. India will host the World T20 for the first time. The tournament will run from March 11 to April 3 across eight cities. Kolkata’s Eden Gardens will host the final.

Karnataka will officially launch the LED light bulbs scheme from Mysuru on Friday. Under the programme six crore ordinary bulbs will be replaced with LED bulbs to save energy. The government has roped in 3-4 companies for the purpose.
