Five things to watch out for today

The civil services main examination will be conducted from today till Wednesday, according to the time table finalised by the UPSC. The examination will be conducted in forenoon and afternoon sessions during these days. There will be no exam on December 20. A total of 15,008 candidates have qualified in this year's preliminary exams.

A no-fly zone will be imposed around Rann of Kutch and nearby areas from today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to attend the three-day annual meet of Directors-General of Police in Gujarat.

President Pranab Mukherjee, beginning today, will travel to Hyderabad on a customary Southern sojourn that ends on December 31. During the visit, the President will attend the convocation ceremony of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) on December 19.

The government is to present the Mid-Year Economic Review in Parliament today. The review is likely to revise downwards the GDP growth forecast for this fiscal. The Economic Survey had projected 8.1-8.5 per cent growth in the current fiscal.

Mahindra & Mahindra is to unveil its mini SUV, code-named S101, today. Though the vehicle’s official name will be revealed at the event, speculation is it will be called Mahindra KUV100 as the company had patented this name earlier this year for one of its upcoming products. It will take on the likes of Maruti WagonR and the upcoming Tata Zica.
