The Supreme Court will hear today a plea challenging the Union Cabinet’s recommendation to impose President’s Rule in crisis-hit Arunachal Pradesh. The plea, moved by the Congress party, alleges that “illegal” attempts have been made by the Centre and the Governor to topple the Nabam Tuki government in the State.

Scores of municipal sanitation workers in New Delhi will go on an indefinite strike from today. They charge that the civic bodies have failed to meet their many demands, including regularisation of salary. The workers have been sitting on a relay hunger strike for the past month at Jantar Mantar under various unions.

The Delhi HC is to hear a plea challenging the AAP government’s decision to set up a commission of inquiry to probe alleged corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association. A division bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath said it would hear the plea.

A nationwide university strike has been called today by students agitating in Hyderabad Central University over the suicide of Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula. They have rejected the appointment of Vipin Srivastava as interim Vice-Chancellor.

In a meeting of his council of ministers today, Prime Minister Modi will review the progress made on key Cabinet decisions. This will be the first major review exercise in 18 months since he assumed office. Modi will examine how ministries are implementing over 20 key decisions on agriculture and rural development projects.
