Five things to watch out for today

CBSE will publish admit cards of All India Pre-Medical /Pre-Dental Entrance Tests today on its official website aipmt.nic.in . The AIPMT 2016 exam will be held on May 1 and the results will be out on June 5. The exam will have 180 objective questions based on Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). It will be held for a duration of three hours.

From today, cigarette packs will warn more than what they advertise. Pictorial warnings will be displayed on 85 per cent space of cigarette packets from today. The decision is in tune with the suggestions in the Committee on Subordinate Legislation report.

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation will give interest on inoperative PF accounts with effect from April 1, 2016, reversing a key decision of the UPA taken in 2011. The move will benefit millions of organised sector employees who will receive interest on their inoperative savings amounting to a total of close to ₹32,000 crore.

Insurance of vehicles, including cars and bikes, will become costlier from Friday as regulator IRDA has decided to increase premiums by up to 40 per cent from the next fiscal. For instance, third-party motor insurance premium for small cars (up to 1,000 cc) will now be up 39.9 per cent to 2,055.

Starting today, the way home, auto or any other floating rate retail loan is calculated will change. It will be linked to the Marginal Cost of Funds based Lending Rate (MCLR) instead Base Rate. While all new borrowers will be offered the MCLR, existing borrowers have the option to continue with Base Rate.
