The results of the NEET 2016 examination for phase 1 (AIPMT) and phase 2 (NEET 2) will be announced on Wednesday. CBSE, the organising board behind the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), will put the results online. Over 7 lakh aspirants took the NEET 1 and NEET 2. AIPMT, held on May 1, is considered the first phase of NEET 2016 and was taken by around 6 lakh candidates. Candidates who took NEET-1 were also allowed to take NEET 2 which was held on July 24.

A meeting of the Jharkhand Assembly has been called on August 17 to discuss the Goods and Services Tax Bill 2016. The meeting will be part of extended monsoon session that ended recently.

Asus is all set to launch its Zenfone 3 series smartphones in the Capital on Wednesday. Asus CEO Jerry Shin is expected to present the keynote speech at the event. Asus launched the Zenfone 3 series in Taiwan in May. The expected launches are the ZenFone 3, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, and the ZenFone 3 Ultra.

Minister of State for External Affairs M. J. Akbar will be on an official visit to Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq from August 17 to 23 to strengthen bilateral ties with the West Asia region. In Lebanon, the minister is expected to meet the top leadership of the country. He is scheduled to have extensive discussions with the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Tammam Salam and bilateral interaction with the Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berry apart from other dignitaries, academics and intellectuals. In his discussions with the Lebanese leadership, he will cover bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest. In Syria, Akbar will pay a call on the President of Syria Bashar Al Assad and Prime Minister Emad Mohammed Deeb Khamis.

The first tender for the Smart Grid project that is aimed at supplying uninterrupted electricity to Gurgaon is now expected to be opened on August 17. The tender of the ambitious project was scheduled to be opened on July 22 but was delayed on account of queries over the project. Additional deputy commissioner, Gurgaon, Vinay Pratap Singh said the time widow for opening the tender has been increased as interested companies raised some queries about the project. Singh, who is the nodal officer for the project, said the date has also been extended so that good agencies with expertise can apply for the project.
