Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and MP Madhu Koda was today granted bail by the state High Court in one of the corruption cases lodged against him.
However, he will continue to remain in jail in other cases.
A single Bench of Justice H.C. Mishra granted bail to Koda in a corruption case pertaining to an alleged Pollution Control Board scam.
On April 5, the former chief minister had secured bail for the first time from the High Court in a disproportionate assets case.
His petition for bail in a case relating to the Enforcement Directorate is likely to come up for hearing on August 22.
Koda, who has been in judicial custody from November 30, 2009, was arrested by Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau from Chaibasa after the October 31 countrywide raids by IT Department/Enforcement Directorate on 69 premises.
The IT Department had alleged that documents relating to illegal investments and hawala transactions valued at Rs 2,500 crore were seized during raids on the premises of Koda and his associates.
The CBI took over the case later, and along with the ED, charged him with making illegal investments and hawala transactions during his chief ministerial term for 23 months between 2006 and 2008.
