Four officials kidnapped for ransom in Manipur

Four officials, including a section officer of the Manipur electricity department, have been kidnapped by suspected Kuki militants for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh in Chandel district bordering Myanmar.

Reports from the district said the gunmen barged into the office of the state electricity department at Tengnoupal hill area, about 100 km from here, on Wednesday and kidnapped section officer, Krishnamohon Singh and his subordinate staff members, Bindul Singh, Rajen Singh and Kulabidhu Singh.

The abductors also took away Singh’s official vehicle.

The kidnappers rang up members of the staff and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh for the safe release of the officials.

Official sources here said a search was on to trace the officials.
