Franchise India and Karmyog Education Network (KEN) on Monday announced a partnership for launching the Indian Idol Academy, a first of its kind performing arts academy for young learners, in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow and Mumbai.

The learning course is designed to draw on the assets of Indian Idol, and the methods of the show’s masters and past alumni along with experts, celebrities and educators to prepare and develop aspiring singers for their futures in the performing arts.

The first Indian Idol Academy centres will be launched in September 2013, as part of a nationwide plan for centres in multiple cities across India. The course work offers a variety of practical workshops including an orientation and induction programme, followed by intermediate and advanced-level talent development programmes for promising singers, according to a press release.

Sonya Chowdhry, Director, Franchise India Brands Ltd., said a strategic approach will be adopted to channelise the expansion across countries.

Chuck Schreiner, Managing Director, KEN, said the OmniDELTM approach to learning, developed by KEN founder Sourabh J. Sarkar, would be used in creating performing arts learning programmes to help youths discover the magic of singing and shine as performers. Leveraging interactive multimedia and technology for the first time, the Academy programmes will engage the learners in every dimension.

The past six seasons of Indian Idol have enjoyed a succession of strong ratings on Sony TV, and a new Indian Idol Junior series, with participants aged 5 – 15 years old, is set to be launched on the channel soon.
