Wadia Group-run GoAir has appointed former EasyJet executive Cornelis Vrieswijk as the new Chief Executive Officer effective June 4. Cor will be reporting to the Chairman, Managing Director and the board of directors of GoAir.

At EasyJet, Cor led significant operational performance improvement during a period of high growth, as well as crafting innovative solutions to business mergers and MRO and outsourcing opportunities.

Cor’s appointment comes after the company’s former CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauerwas was sued by GoAir for allegedly stealing confidential data of the airline. Prock-Schauer joined GoAir rival IndiGo as its Chief Operating Officer starting February 1.

Commenting on the appointment, Jeh Wadia, Managing Director, GoAir, said: “Cor will work with the board and leadership team to expand and implement a range of strategic initiatives to lead the airline into its next phase of growth. I am confident that Cor will help scale GoAir further and establish it as a profitable low-cost carrier in the highly competitive Indian market.”

Cor Vrieswijk said: “I believe GoAir has tremendous potential in the aviation market today. My primary focus will be to grow the airline to a strong position and modelling the desired changes for further growth and expansion.”
