The Ministry of Human Resource Development on Thursday launched a cell to promote innovation in higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country. The aim of the cell, established at the All India Council of Technical Education (AICE) premises, is to introduce students to new ideas and inculcate innovative activities in their formative years, an official statement said.
Speaking While speaking at the event, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said: “We must create innovation culture in India and we are also encouraging HEIs to create innovation clubs on their campuses.”
India has already improved in the global innovation ranking to 57th place from 86th place five years ago, he said.
The Minister also launched the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA), and said it will help assess the progress made by HEIs.
