As part of the continuing crackdown on unaccounted money stashed abroad, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday renewed his demand on Switzerland to “confirm details” of several Indian accountholders who featured in the infamous HSBC list.

He used the occasion of his meeting with the visiting Swiss Economic Affairs Minister Johann Schneider Amman to make “requests” with the Swiss side to share details on those Indian accountholders who had admitted to holding unaccounted money in the Alpine country.

Emerging out of a nearly hour-long meeting, Jaitley said the visiting Minister had reaffirmed that Switzerland would cooperate in those cases where there was evidence of accountholders having admitted to holding unaccounted money in Swiss banks. He also said that India was ready to enter into a bilateral pact with Switzerland for an automatic exchange of information.
