The Hindusthan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has delivered 3 vessels during the current financial year and is making earnest attempts to improve its performance further, according to N.K Mishra, Chairman & Managing Director.
He was reviewing the performance of the HSL after hoisting the National Flag on the occasion of the Independence Day.
He said the HSL had delivered one 50-T bollard pull tug to the Visakhapatnam port trust, one IPV (ICGS Rani Avantibai) to the Indian Coast Guard and one 53,000 DWT bulker to Goodearth Maritime Limited (GML).
Besides, the HSL had floated out three 50-T BP tugs for the Indian Navy simultaneously. He said it was the result of great team work and "these tugs should be completed in time. Two of these should reach Karwar by mid-September and the third by December.
The whole nation is watching us for these deliveries. Without these tugs, our new aircraft carrier - INS Vikramaditya - cannot berth at Karwar. We need to act and prove it to the nation that we are a capable yard."
He said that in August the HSL had signed the amendment to the original 8 IPV contract and the work on the project would progress now. He said the order book position was comfortable and more orders were in the offing. He exhorted the employees to work hard and work together for delivering the vessels on time and improving the track record of the yard. More orders alone would not solve the problems of the HSL. Prompt delivery was of the essence, he added.
