ICICI Lombard General sweetens insurance deal for female motorists

Without incurring any incremental cost, female motorists can now look for immediate assistance and other support in coping with car breakdown or accident when driving at late hours in the night or in the wee hours of the morning.

ICICI Lombard General Insurance has come up with a new service ‘Women Assist’ for its woman motor insurance customers. This comes as “add-on” to the Road Side Assistance service.

Initially available in 13 cities, the ‘Women Assist’ service — launched on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan — aims to ensure ‘security’ and ‘safety’ of woman motorists during late night (8 pm to 6 am).

The 13 cities are New Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Noida, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai.

Coverage in ‘women assist’

In the event of an insurer’s vehicle being immobilised due to an accident or breakdown, hotel accommodation will be provided to the insured for one day for a maximum of ₹5,000.

Also, if the passengers require medical care, co-ordination with nearby hospital or emergency services like arrangement of ambulance will be done, sources said.

Besides ensuring urgent message relay to family and friends, custodial services for the insured vehicle will be provided through service partner if the road side assistance team is unable to reach quickly to the location of the breakdown or accident.

‘Women Assist’ also covers the facility of sending a vehicle technician to the location of breakdown to carry out the repairs including mechanical failure, flat tyre and electrical problems. Under the loss key replacement benefit, arrangement will be done for pick-up and delivery of the spare keys at the insurer’s vehicle location. Moreover, in case of empty fuel tank, upto five litres of fuel will be supplied at the location of the breakdown, sources added.

Also, in the event of the insured’s vehicle being immobilised due to an accident/breakdown, free travel for the occupants of the insured vehicles upto 50 kilometres will be arranged. And now for the icing on the cake under ‘Women Assist’, refreshments will be provided to the woman motorist/occupant if the car/ vehicle were to get immobilised due to breakdown or an accident.
