To provide education to the children of construction workers who do not have access to education, IIFL Home Loan with the help of IIFL Foundation is running school facilities at some of the developers’ sites as part of their corporate social initiative.
IIFL Home Finance Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of India Infoline Finance Ltd (IIFL) which is a non-banking financial company registered with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The make-shift schools have been started at developers’ sites in Noida and Greater Noida. Currently, 30 children of construction workers are getting elementary education in these schools.
IIFL Home Loan is planning to expand the initiative to developers’ sites in Pune as well. In this regard, the company is targeting around four locations across India by the end of 2018-19.
IIFL Home Loan is also providing support to these schools in terms of teachers’ salary. Teachers working here belong to the nearby areas only.
Hence, apart from providing basic education to the children, it is also a platform for employment opportunities to these teachers who belong to economically weaker sections.
IIFL Home Finance together with IIFL Foundation wants to ensure that no child remains devoid of education, said Himanshu Arora (Business Head), Construction Finance/Alternate Channels, IIFL Home Finance Ltd.
“Currently over 30 kids are studying at such schools but our aim is to take this initiative to a larger level,” he added.
