IKEA Retail India, the home furnishing company and a part of the Swedish multi-national company IKEA, has announced that the opening date of the first Indian store in Hyderabad will be moved from July 19 to August 9.
“IKEA Retail India decided to move the date as it needs some more time to live up to its expected quality commitments towards customers and co-workers,” said Peter Betzel CEO, IKEA Retail India.
“Our main priority is to create an inspiring and safe experience for both customers and co-workers. Opening the first Indian IKEA store in Hyderabad means a lot to IKEA and we want to offer the best possible meeting with IKEA for many Indian customers,” he said in a statement.
The furnishing major, which has invested over Rs 1,000 crore on its first flagship store in India at Hyderabad, is planning to set up a chain of stores in the country. It has already acquired land in some select destinations, including Mumbai, Gurugram and Bengaluru. Work on the stores will be taken up after securing the clearance.
