The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall across Odisha in the next 24 hours.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over interior Odisha and heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over coastal resgion during the next 48 hours,” S Sahu, Director of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said today.
Sahu said the upper air circulation in the Bay of Bengal near Bangladesh is causing rainfall in the State. Mahanadi river catchment area will also receive good amount of rainfall, he said.
Meanwhile, IMD sources said that most places over north and interior Odisha have received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. The chief amount of rainfall recorded in centimeter are Jagatsinghpur (11 cm), Baripada (10 cm) and Jaipur (9 cm).
