India faces a shortage of three lakh yoga instructors against the requirement of over five lakh yoga practitioners, says a study by industry chamber Assocham.
The study paper on ‘International Yoga Day’, released here on Monday, reveals that yoga is becoming ‘new currency for fitness’ and people are ready to spend money ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 per month.
“India has emerged as one of the biggest yoga teachers’ exporters to Southeast Asia and an estimated 3,000 Indian yoga teachers are teaching in China belonging to Haridwar and Rishikesh,” it added.
