India and Slovenia have signed a protocol to amend an existing double taxation avoidance treaty between the two countries.
This protocol will broaden the scope of the existing framework of exchange of tax related information, an official release said.
A broadened framework is expected to help curb tax evasion and tax avoidance between the two countries and also enable mutual assistance in collection of taxes.
The protocol was signed on May 17 by Sarvajit Chakravarti, the Indian ambassador to Slovenia on behalf of India, and Dusan Mramor, the Slovenian Minister of Finance, on behalf of Slovenia.
India has been amending various existing double tax avoidance pacts as part of efforts to improve the exchange of information for tax administration purposes.
