The Indian classical dance should be part of school/college curriculum as it helps students to remain focussed in studies, said Indian danseuse Sonal Mansingh.
Sonal said she had a great connect with Bengaluru as her first Ranga Pravesha was at Rajbhavan in 1961.
She said the Bengaluru audience were always supportive of Indian dance and encouraged a lot and this was the reason she always looked forward to visit Bengaluru. She also added as to how she enjoyed giving dance performance across Karnataka.
Sonal was in Bengaluru to encourage her disciple Hasmitha Ganesh, who was making her Ranga Pravesha.
Sonal said the world was changing fast so was the interest in Indian classical dance. However, Indian dance form still retained it's power to woo people as too much hard work goes into the learning. The dedication, commitment and focus helped the artistes to excel.
She said that there was a shift to reality shows in the entertainment industry. This is the time when entertainment industry needs to give more importance to Indian classical dance.
