The 38th Indo-Bangla Joint Rivers Commission (JRC) ministerial meeting, scheduled for tomorrow in Dhaka, has been postponed.
“Due to pressing domestic engagements, the Minister of Water Resources has to postpone his visit to Dhaka,” official sources said here today.
They said fresh dates for the JRC will be worked out through mutual consultations.
It may be recalled that during the Minister of Water Resources’ visit, the 38th round of the JRC had been planned, they added.
A spokesman of Bangladesh’s water resources ministry later told PTI that India has said both sides would fix a fresh date for the meeting at a “convenient time”.
Bangladesh’s water resource ministry officials earlier said the two countries have exchanged drafts of an interim agreement on sharing of Teesta water.
