Remembering J Jayalalithaa as a person who made relentless efforts for the economic progress of the Tamil Nadu, industrialists and representatives of various industry associations have mourned the demise of the Chief Minister of the State.

P Murari, Advisor to FICCI President, condoled the death of Jayalalithaa saying that she single-handedly conceptualised the Vision 2023 Plan of Tamil Nadu which was a unique thing and never thought of ever before.

“I was in Tamil Nadu Government between 1955 and 1984. But it was a unique thing that she had a grand vision plan for the State to completely transform Tamil Nadu and bring it to the forefront of the industrial development,” he told

BusinessLine.

Murari also recalled Jayalalithaa’s willingness to take suggestions from the industry bodies. “FICCI suggested about the importance of aerospace and defence sectors and she readily accepted it and incorporated it in her comprehensive Vision 2023 document,” he pointed out.

Stating that she held the State together by bringing disparate elements together in Tamil Nadu, Murari noted the void would be very difficult to fill.

Venu Srinivasan, Chairman of TVS Motor Company, said that he was deeply saddened at the demise of J Jayalalithaa.

“She promoted industry and commerce in order to generate employment and for economic progress and prosperity of the State. She will always be remembered for her relentless efforts towards the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu,” he added.

Hyundai Managing Director and CEO Y K Koo said he was shocked to hear the demise of the Chief Minister and recalled her support to the industrial development in the State as also to Hyundai Motor India’s operation.

Anand Mahindra, Executive Chairman, Mahindra Group tweeted that he was saddened by Tamil Nadu chief minister's demise and described her as an ‘iron lady, but with a wry sense of humour and the gift of eloquence.
