Isolated heavy rain has been forecast for South Coastal Tamil Nadu and the delta districts today at the beginning of what looks like a renewed wet session for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Technically, rains forecast in Tamil Nadu for the day would lash the districts of Tiruchirappali, Thanjavur, Pudukkoattai, Ariyalur, Permbalur an Karaikal.
According to the Regional Met Centre, Chennai, the rains are set to intensify from tomorrow (Saturday) with isolated heavy to very rain predicted for the next three days and further increase in rainfall seen over the two days that follow (until Thursday, December 3).
According to the US National Centres for Environmental Prediction, the rains would propagate further West and North to cover the entire Peninsular India and even up to Central India during the week ending December 4 (Friday).
EXCESS RAIN
The US agency forecast excess rain for many parts of the region except parts of Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Marathawada, and Vidarbha where it will be normal.
According to the US Climate Prediction Centre, Coastal Tamil Nadu and East Sri Lanka would witness normal to above normal rain during the week ending December 9.
