Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while welcoming the Supreme Court decision said, “I had consistently maintained that this chargesheet was full of fabricated facts.”

Jaitley wrote on his Facebook post said that the officers are guilty of fabricating charges against an honest civil servant and others. “There is no doubt that the chargesheet was filed at the behest of Kapil Sibal, the Telecom Minister in the UPA government,” he added.

Noting that the telecom sector at the time was “riddled with scams”, the Finance Minister said Sibal had selected a retired Judge of his choice and asked him to unearth an “NDA scam” in telecom.

He also raised questions Sibal’s role in the process of investigation. “But what about the Ministers who conspired to create a fabricated chargesheet and a retired Judge who, for the sake of a post-retirement assignment, agreed to lend his offices for the same?,” he wrote.

Stressing that the Court has vindicated the NDA’s stand, Jaitley said CBI officers who had acted on the orders of the political government would face an enquiry.
