The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has strongly condemned the bomb blasts that occurred this morning on the Bangalore-Guwahati Express at the Chennai Central Station.
One woman was killed and 14 persons injured, including two seriously, in the explosion that occurred on two coaches at about 7.15 am after the train pulled into the station on its way from Bangalore to Guwahati.
According to an official statement, the Chief Minister expressed grief and concern for the dead and injured passengers.
The Tamil Nadu Police will work with the Railway Police Force to identify and punish those responsible for the blasts. The Crime Branch CID will handle the investigation, she said.
She expressed her condolences to the family of the dead and announced a grant of ₹1 lakh from the Chief Minister’s relief fund. The two seriously injured passengers have been granted relief of ₹50,000 and the others ₹25,000.
