The Moodbidri-based Alva’s Education Foundation will conduct a mass job fair – Alva’s Pragati 2014 – at Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada district on June 14 and 15.
Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Mohan Alva, Chairman of the foundation, said that more than 200 companies are likely to participate in the two-day fair. This is the fifth edition of ‘Alva’s Pragati’, he said.
Vivek Alva, managing trustee of the foundation, said that companies from sectors such as manufacturing, automobile, healthcare, IT and ITeS, retail would participate in the job fair.
Registration for the event is free for both the companies and the candidates. However, the job aspirants will have to register themselves online.
Stating that there is great opportunity for graduates across disciplines, Vivek Alva said a good number of companies are looking for graduates such as BBM, BCA, BSc, BSW and BHM. Experienced graduates can also participate in the drive, as there is a huge demand for graduates, he said.
Apart from this, there is good opportunity for ITI and diploma candidates, as some companies are attending the job fair with positions exclusively offered for them. He said that companies such as Titan, ITC, Videocon, Biocon, and Lakshmi Machine Works have positions vacant for ITI and diploma candidates.
Highlighting the opportunities for nursing students, he said candidates attending the fair should have two years of experience if they are applying for overseas positions. He said the UAE-based healthcare company NMC will be offering jobs at the fair.
Vivek Alva said 172 companies participated in the Alva’s Pragati 2013. More than 15,000 students from 400 colleges from various parts of the state had registered for that job fair.
