Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi has asked the youth in IT to come out with solutions to solve the problems of the children in distress and poor access to education and healthcare.
Addressing a large gathering of young entrepreneurs attending the Road to GES (Global Entrepreneurship Summit) here on Sunday, he said over 60 million children in the world had never seen a school, while 200 million more were forced to drop out of the school before their secondary education. “This means that over 260 million children are denied access to education,” he said.
Stating that the education system in the country had its own problems with an estimated shortage of one million primary teachers, he asked the fledgeling entrepreneurs to build technologies and solutions that could help keep tabs on trafficking of children. “They are being sold far less than they sell cattle,” he felt.
As many as 218 million children were forced to take up jobs, denying them education, while 210 million adults were jobless. “We need to bring the children out of these jobs to make way for adults. This will help the children to go to schools,” he said.
Over 700 entrepreneurs attended the Road to GES conference ahead of the three-day GES, which is scheduled to begin on November 28.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao would address the GES inaugural on the evening of November 28.
