Kashmir floods: Air India, Pawan Hans helping in rescue efforts

Secretary Civil Aviation Ashok Lavasa will hold a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary to see what needs to be done in flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir.

Briefing newspersons the Union Civil Aviation Minister, Ashok Gajapati Raju, said that Air India is operating two flights to the region.

Air India has deployed two wide-body Airbus 330 to Jammu & Kashmir. The aircraft are carrying medicines, food items and other essential supplies.

Apart from public sector, the private sector too is helping. Pawan Hans is also assisting in the rescue efforts.

No-frills airports

Meanwhile, a senior official of the Airports Authority of India said the five no-frills airports will come up in Tezu in Auranchal Pradesh, Hubli and Belgaum in Karnataka, Kishanganj in Rajasthan and 1 in Orissa.

All these were announced at a press conference to mark 100 days of the Government.
