Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister lashed out the Narendra Modi-led NDA government for the hardships being faced by common people following demonetisation of Rs 500/1,000 notes, alleging that the news was ‘selectively’ leaked to favour the BJP and its corporate allies.

Addressing a press conference here, Kejriwal said “the BJP leaders were aware of the government decision beforehand”, which is why deposits in banks that were negative suddenly spurted in the last quarter.

"In the days leading to the announcement of demonetisation decision by Prime Minister Modi, thousands of crores of rupees were deposited in bank accounts of some people and corporate houses," the Delhi Chief Minister alleged.

Calling for immediate roll-back of the decision, Kejriwal said this is not a “surgical strike” on black money, as claimed by BJP, but on the common people of the country.

Kejriwal, who was attacked by BJP President Amit Shah on Friday, hit back by saying that “People who have stashed black money in Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes are buying dollars, which are being sold at Rs 120 in the black market in Delhi. Gold is being sold at Rs 60,000/gram in Delhi, “he said, accusing the government of “deliberately” creating this crisis.
