The State government will go ahead with the proposal for setting up an Intellectual Property Right (IPR) academy.
Announcing this in the state assembly, finance minister Mr K. M. Mani, said that the ongoing processes and procedures for this would be speeded up.
The minister recalled that a proposal for the academy, purported to be the country’s first, had been included in the previous state budget. Suitable location for a campus for the academy would be identified soon, he informed the House.
The minister also sought to assure members that necessary safeguards would be put in place to protect and preserve traditional knowledge in the state.
