Rajnikanth’s latest flick Kochadaiiyaan has earned Rs 42 crore as gross collections worldwide at the opening week-end , according to Eros International, which released the film.
The movie earned about Rs 30 crore at the domestic box office and overseas box office collections stood at Rs 12 crore.
The movie was released in 2D and 3D in six languages across 3,000 screens worldwide.
In a statement, Nandu Ahuja, Senior Vice-President, India Theatrical, Eros International Media Ltd, said: “Thalaivar fans have given huge thumbs up to the film which showcases the charisma of their favourite superstar in a never seen before avatar. Advance booking for the opening week-end, especially in Tamil Nadu, were outstanding and true to Rajni films, the shows opened as early as 5.00 a.m. to capacity audiences with the build-up commencing the night before.”
