Lanco Tanjore bags UK safety award

Lanco Tanjore Power Company Limited (LTPCL) has been awarded the Five Star rating by the British Safety Council UK for its health and safety management system for the year 2013.

P. Panduranga Rao, CEO, Lanco Tanjore, in a statement said: “Our efforts and commitment towards environment, health and safety management have been acknowledged by British Safety Council.”

LTPCL, part of the diversified infrastructure company Lanco Infratech Limited, which operates 120 MW combined cycle power plant in Tamil Nadu, went through a process of health and safety management system model designed by British Safety Council.

This achievement makes it the first organisation in India to be bestowed with such an honour, the company stated.

The certification process was carried out as per the new specification of British Safety Council’s Health and Safety Management System comprising of 66 elements.

Lanco Tanjore is now eligible to apply for the prestigious award of Sword of Honour, considered the top most award for health and safety management. This is awarded to few select safest companies and is recognised all over the world.

This Five Star rating covers all the aspects of health, safety and welfare and signifies it has all practices to achieve right capabilities, management structure, business culture to encourage innovation, improved productivity, minimised waste and overall continual improvement.
