The logjam in Parliament is “unfortunate”; and the Congress should support the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, BJP President Amit Shah said here on Wednesday.
“Whatever is happening in Parliament is unfortunate, we appeal to Congress to support GST Bill,” Shah said during an interactive session on 'Economic Agenda for Development of Eastern Region', organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
The monsoon session of Parliament ends on August 13. The logjam has arisen with the Congress demanding the resignations of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for allegedly helping former IPL chief Lalit Modi get UK travel documents. It has also demanded the ouster of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the multi-crore Vyapam scandal.
According to Shah, despite the logjam, the country’s economic growth will, however, not be impacted. “The people have mandated us and there will be a 10 per cent growth by GDP by 2017. We have our alternatives ready,” he added.
