The UAE-based Lulu Group International has announced the launch of its ₹1,800-crore Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre and Grand Hyatt in Kochi.
Both these projects are part of the group's ₹13,000-crore expansion plan in India in the retail, hospitality and food processing sectors, said MA Yusuff Ali, Chairman and Managing Director of Lulu Group.
Proposed projects
The proposed projects include shopping mall in Lucknow, hotel, convention centre and mall in Vishakapattanam, shopping mall in Hyderabad and food processing centres in Telangana.
“This is my dream project in Kerala and I am sure this will go a long way in making Kochi and Kerala the tourist and MICE hub of India,” he told reporters here on Wednesday.
With the increase in conference and summits in Kerala, the tourism and related sectors will see tremendous growth in both revenues and economic activities which will aid in all-round growth of Kerala, he added.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the projects here on April 28.
Lulu Group’s other projects in Kerala that are under construction are a shopping mall in Thiruvananthapuram, cyber tower at Infopark in Kochi, which can accommodate 10,000 people, and the expansion of its convention centre at Thrissur.
The 10 lakh sq ft convention centre is the largest of its kind in the country with a total capacity of around 10,000 people. It has three helipads and parking capacity for more than 1,500 cars.
Grand Hyatt will feature an array of suites, rooms, luxury villas and spread across on 26 acres of landscaped grounds on the Bolgatty Island.
Girish Bhagat, General Manager of Grand Hyatt, said the hotel project would change the face of hospitality in India.
