A major fire has broken out in the Berger Paints godown in the outskirts of Bangalore on the Chennai-Bangalore Hosur Road.
The company’s godown is situated in Bommanahalli, which is close to Electronic City where several IT and ITeS companies such as Infosys are located.
According to the Karnataka Fire Services Department, about 24 fire tenders have been pressed into service to tackle the fire.
The department has been using foam instead of water to contain the blaze.
According to an assessment of the fire department, the loss would run into a couple of lakh rupees.
Berger Paints was one of the key acquisitions of liquor baron Vijaya Mallya made several years ago. He later sold it off for a huge profit.
