In a major relief to several home buyers, the National Green Tribunal on Tuesday directed the Environment Ministry to issue within three weeks a final notification defining the Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) around the Okhla Bird sanctuary.
The decision has been welcomed by real estate developers and home buyers.
Anil Sharma, CMD, Amrapali Group, said: “This is welcome news for nearly 55,000 buyers and for nearly 2.5 lakh people who were stranded because of this issue. Now people can look forward to move into their new homes which were ready for possession for a long time.” Echoing similar sentiments a DLF spokesperson said, “It is a good move for both industry and especially buyers waiting to move in, who were paying equated monthly instalments as well as rent.”
The order came on the plea of Supreme Court Bar Association Multi-State Co-operative Group Housing Society Ltd which had moved the tribunal seeking direction to the NOIDA authority for issuance of completion certificate for its 684-flats complex.
“All the concerned stakeholders or any aggrieved person would be at liberty to challenge the said notification in accordance with law,” the bench headed by Justice Swatanter Kumar said.
