MIDHANI, the defence public sector company has set up a 4 MW solar power plant with an investment of ₹ 20.36 crore.
The plant spread over 20 acres is expected to generate 7,000 MW hr/year of electricity with a projected saving of ₹ 5 crore per year and reduction of 5,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. according to a company press release.
The renewable energy project was inaugurated by Ajay Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production), Union Ministry of Defence today.
The solar power plant is grid connected to the State distribution company. The project will cover upto 15 per cent of the power requirements of Midhani from renewable sources.
The defence production secretary also reviewed the various projects and activities of the company which produces specialised products, materials and capital equipment for the strategic sectors.
