Industry and chambers of commerce are upbeat over the proposal to set up help desk for Goods and Services Tax (GST) and few reforms with regards to allotment of industrial sheds.

NR Badrinath, Member, State Taxes Expert Committee, BCIC, said, “The State government’s GST help desk and a proposed Karasamadhana Scheme under the Central Sales Tax (CST) provisions to waive 100 percent of penalty and interest on payment of full tax on or before October, 30 2018. This would however, be applicable for assessments / re-assessment completed only upt o June 30, .2018.”

Badrinath stated that, while the move to complete assessments on a fast-track basis is aimed to arrest pendency, the enhancement of the time limit to dispose of appeals, appears to be moving in the other direction. He also commended the government for proposing to infuse fresh investment to the tune of ₹14, 000 crore to construct plug-and-play industrial shed and for skill training programmes which is expected to generate 8 lakhs jobs in the State and will boost the MSME industry.

FKCCI

Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) welcomed the proposals related to schemes on implementing Israel model for agriculture and model to combat the China competition.

“The Israeli model has been taken for irrigation and the implementation of the scheme to start with, will go to Gadag, Koppal and Kolar Districts,” said S Sudhakar S Shetty, President, FKCCI.
