Authorities today snapped the mobile internet services in Kashmir valley following hanging of Parliament attack convict Mohammed Afzal Guru.
All the mobile, internet connections stopped functioning in the morning as the news about hanging of Guru broke out.
Although no reason has been given, it is believed that the step was taken as a preemptive measure to prevent misuse of Internet.
In the past, authorities had suspended internet and mobile services during the 2010 summer unrest in the valley as some people used the Internet to mobilise protests.
The services are also suspended on Republic Day and Independence Day as a precautionary measure.
