Union Petroleum Minister Veerappa Moily has sought the speedy repatriation of Jacintha Saldanha’s body to her native place.

Jacintha Saldanha, who was employed as nurse at King Edward VII Hospital in London, was found dead on Friday.

She had taken a prank phone call at the hospital where Prince William’s wife was being treated.

In a letter to Salman Khurshid, Union External Affairs Minister, Moily said: “Jacintha hails from my district. The people of both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, and in particular the relatives and children are very much agitated over the handling of the matter."

“I am told that no appropriate steps have been taken to make a fair investigation and also to bring back the body to her native place. This is a matter of grave concern to the parents and relatives and the people of both the districts,” he said.

Seeking to ensure the speedy repatriation of her body to her native place, Moily said: “I shall thank you to consider intervening in the matter for a fair investigation.”
