The National Health Authority (NHA) is looking at providing unique health IDs as part of its National Digital Health Mission.
This was disclosed by Indu Bhushan, CEO, Ayushman Bharat & National Health Authority (NHA), at the inaugural address, online, to the incoming class of the Advanced Management Programme for Healthcare (AMPH) at the Indian School of Business (ISB) on Friday.
“The NHA has been tasked with implementing the National Digital Health Mission, aimed at significantly ramping up IT infrastructure in the health sector. Under this mission, they are looking at providing unique health IDs and enabling Electronic Health Records in India,” he said.
Explaining the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PM-JAY), he said the programme was aimed at decreasing the out-of-pocket expenses of people through increased public expenditure on healthcare services and delivery.
“We are leveraging the power of IT to connect the payers, the beneficiaries and the hospitals, along with enhancing capacity-building, monitoring and evaluation, portability, awareness generation grievance redressal and fraud prevention,” he added.
Bhushan exhorted the AMPH participants to look at healthcare, with the primary objective of welfare maximisation.
