Cocking a snook at slogan-shouting TMC MPs demanding a discussion on black money in the Lok Sabha, Nishikant Dubey, a BJP MP from Jharkhand, demanded firm action against politicians allegedly involved in ponzi scams in various States, such as West Bengal and Bihar.

Some top Trinamool leaders have been named in the Saradha chit fund scam in West Bengal being probed by the CBI.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour on Tuesday, Dubey, while not naming the Saradha scam, said money raised from the poor people through ponzi schemes were being “used to prop up terrorist elements and encourage illegal immigrants”, citing the example of recent blasts in Bengal’s Burdwan district.

Raising the coal block allocation scam, Shankar Prasad Dutta, a CPI (M) MP from Tripura, said the BJP government “had not learnt any lesson” from the erstwhile UPA government, “which fell due to the ₹1.86 lakh crore coal scam”, and was moving towards privatising the coal industry.

Same path as UPA He said the Modi government is “pursuing the same path as the UPA by deciding to move ahead with privatisation of coal blocks and had issued an ordinance.”
