‘Understanding body language is important’

Without understanding the body language of others, managers cannot communicate properly, said Dileep Pareek, Director of Just Hasyam.

He was speaking on the importance of ‘Body Language and Communication’ to the students of Arya Bhatt College of Engineering & Research Centre, Ajmer, (Rajasthan).

The lecture was organised by

Business Line, in association with Cairn India, an energy company. Pareek said body language and communication play a vital role in execution of work.

“But without understanding others, their posture, their eyes, their smile and their expressions, we cannot communicate properly,” he added. Charlie Chaplin expressed everything without uttering a single word. Everyday managers meet many people and has to read other people’s postures.

A dynamic process

Communication is a dynamic process which propels you to take decisions, he said.

Most of the interviewers assess the interviewee within four minutes by their body language. Pareek added that with good body language and communication skills, one can overcome anything.
