Eminent world leaders and intellectuals will participate in the two-day international conference to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, beginning here tomorrow.

The conference will have two parallel sessions — 'Inclusive democracy and people's empowerment' and 'Nehru's world view and a democratic international order for the 21st century'.

The Congress-organised meet will also see participation from a number of non-National Democratic Alliance parties.

The Congress leadership hopes to build a platform of all secular outfits against the Narendra Modi Government and considers the conference as a step towards this.

The conference will be chaired by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. CPI(M) leaders Sitaram Yechury and Prakash Karat; Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad, representatives from the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, DMK and AIADMK have agreed to attend.
