Deprived of any information technology and electronic hardware manufacturing capacity, the Andhra Pradesh Government has released a blueprint that seeks to give a big push to the sector.
Mega hub The blueprint, released by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Monday, seeks to set up 20 electronic manufacturing clusters (EMCs) and 200 industries across the State. These clusters will be set up in towns such as Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Kakinada and Chittoor.
“A Mega Hub for e-hardware units will come up at Visakhapatnam. We will set up a Hardware Park at the coastal town of Kakinada. We aim to produce at least one entrepreneur and one IT literate from each household,” Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Minister for Information Technology, has said. Addressing a press conference here, he said the Government would focus on the three missions of IT and electronics, e-governance and capacity building to drive the industry.
“We are hoping to attract investments to the tune of ₹50,000 crore and targeting four lakh jobs by 2020,” he said.
In order to give these missions a push, the Government will allocate ₹1,785 crore in the next five years.
International road-shows Besides, the Government will organise road-shows in Korea, Singapore and Germany to sell Andhra Pradesh as a destination for IT investments.
“We will also establish permanent e-bazaars in Vijayawada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam,” he said.
