Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy directed departments concerned to speed up relief operations and restore power in the Phailin cyclone affected parts of the State.
Following a review meeting on the cyclone relief operations with State Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty and senior officials, he was informed that relief operations were under way and normalcy is likely to be restored in most of the flood-hit locations.
Officials said that out of 112 of 33/11 Kv sub-stations affected, 111 have been rectified and the remaining one will rectified by tonight. Out of the 323 of the 11 kv transformers affected, 295 have already been restored, 28 are being rectified. Power will be restored to all areas at the earliest.
Of the 38 mandals affected in Srikakulam district, power has been completely restored in 34 mandals and partially in 3 mandals. And of the 2,061 villages affected, power restored in 1,811 villages, it will be restored in 100 villages by tonight and in 150 villages by Wednesday.
Restoration works on road breaches and blocks have been completed. The water level started receding in Vamsadhara and Bahuda rivers which were flooded.
AGRICULTURE
It is estimated that 7,745 hectares of agricultural crops have been affected and 7,146 hectares were inundated and water is now receding. Enumeration of crop losses will be completed by Saturday.
Ten 10 kg rice is being distributed to all fishermen and affected people.
