Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan has approved the sanction of dearness allowance (DA) to the State Government employees payable from January 2014.

According to a statement, around 12 lakh Government employees including pensioners would be benefited from the DA hike.

It is the first time in the history of Andhra Pradesh that the DA is being enhanced during the President Rule. The DA for May month will be paid along with the salary on May 24. The arrears of DA would be deposited in the General Provident Fund (GPF) account of the employees.

The DA per cent in the salary of an employee has gone up to 71.9 per cent following the fresh hike.

Employees of zilla parishad, mandal parishad, gram panchayats, municipalities, municipal corporations and agriculture market committees and zilla grandhalaya samsthas, teaching and non-teaching staff of Aided Institutions including Aided Polytechnics would be benefited with this hike besides teaching and non-teaching staff of universities including Acharya N.G.Ranga Agricultural University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.
