Andhra Pradesh has proposed to set up three Electronic Hardware Manufacturing Clusters (EHMC) in the State. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (APIIC) has identified 900 acres of land for these clusters at Paravada (Visakhapatnam district), FAB City and Maheswaram (both in Hyderabad).

“The APIIC is preparing a detailed project report as per the draft policy guidelines of the Central Government. It will be submitted to the Centre by the end of November. We have decided to be quick to avail the Central funds allotted for the clusters,” Ponnala Lakshmaiah, AP Minister for Information Technology, said here in a statement on Monday.

The Paravada cluster will have 100 acres, while the one at FAB City would be allotted 500 acres. APIIC identified 300 acres for the Maheswaram cluster.

“APIIC and the IT Department would take necessary measures to take this forward,” he said, after a review meeting held here with the officials and Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

With regard to the IT towers (office space) in tier-II locations, the officials told the Ministers said that APIIC was asked to prepare a plan to set up these towers with 50,000 sq ft of office space in smaller towns. The Corporation would float tenders before October 25 for construction of IT towers. The meeting has resolved to ask the corporation to complete the towers in nine months.

With regard to the Gaming and Animation Park, the meeting had asked the corporation to nominate the consultant for preparation of the report. “It should complete all formalities for stating construction of gaming and animation park by the end of November,” the statement said.
