The Andhra Pradesh Government has directed the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP to complete registration process of solar projects within five days.
The AP Transco and distribution companies have been mandated to clear the proposal for evacuation of power produced from solar projects within 21 days.
The State Government recently approved a new solar power generation policy offering certain sops to developers. The policy is expected to attract investments for setting up manufacturing facilities, which can provide jobs and also solar generation units.
Representatives from the industry have requested the Government to create awareness and clarify some of the issues regarding the new policy. The policy will be applicable for period up to 2017, with the aim of promoting off-grid solar applications .
In a statement, the Energy Coordination Cell said that the new open access approach with wheeling transmission facility and cross subsidy charges and electricity duty exemption will encourage setting up of new projects.
The Principal Secretary Energy M. Sahoo today reviewed the progress made since the announcement of new solar policy in the State. He will take part in the meeting to be held in New Delhi and addressed by the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh on Tuesday.
